If your router is already setup for these settings go to the next step.

If you do not know how to comm. with your router via the GUI, google the model you have for the IPs address. Note: You can find your router IP address via pressing the far lower left botton windows button for shut down of your PC. Type "cmd" for command prom and type ipconfig. Your router is the gateway IP address. If you do not know the password for your router follow the reset instructions to set the router back to factory settings. Most will be 192.168.0.1 If you are in the USA you should not lose your internet service as your service already knows your modems IP Mac address. Reset only removes the settings of the modem to default factory settings.
I set my router to a different IP to keep others from comm. with it via hacking. As 192.168.0.1 is the first place they would try to enter ones network.
To start you need to have UPNP and DHCP turned on. Port forwarding not require if you are only going to remote view your DVR on your Home Network. Info on Port forwarding on the "Remote Viewing Setup" page.
