how do you program the remote hand unit

GVIDVR said...

Are you talking about the one that comes with the new unit? (remote)
The manual that comes in the box is not very good at all. But you can download the full manual.

Note: You have to use Iexplore to download the PDF files, then save them for later use.

For manuals and software downloads goto this website

I can't remember off hand if it has anything on the remote in it. Being that I don't use it myself.

If you talking about the GUI remote viewing program look down at the bottom of the screen. You will see some Icons there, clicking on "Configure" will open up a new screen with settings.

Note: There are more Icons at the bottom of that screen as well. So select the one you need. I'm going to try to have a video of this by the end of the year.

Note: I have used a USB mouse and Keyboard on the DVR, which made it easier. When not using the GUI software. The Hand remote works, but not very easy to use for setting up settings on the OSD. (ON Screen Display)

Use the front panel of the DVR to enter the OSD setup menu, and follow this path to change the DVR ID:
“Device”  “RS-485 SETTING”  “DEVICE ID”. Change the DVR ID to any number between 224 and 239,
and exit the menu. See the ID Table below for reference. More info in the manual page 36 of the PDF downloadable manual. http://ipfinvest.com/gvi/webfm_send/735/index.html

Note: IE neeed to be used to download the file.

“Device”  “RS-485 SETTING”  “DEVICE ID”. Change the DVR ID to any number between 224 and 239,
and exit the menu. See the ID Table below for reference.
DVR ID 224 225 226 227 228 229 230 231
Remote Control # 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
DVR ID 232 233 234 235 236 237 238 239
Remote Control # 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
After changing the DVR ID, setup the “DVR SEL” of the remote control. Press “DVR SEL”, and then press the
Remote Control # immediately to select the DVR. For example, assuming the DVR ID is set to 225, press
“DVR SEL” and then press “2” immediately. Now, the remote control is only able to control the specified
DVR. Press “DVR SEL” and press the Remote control # to switch between DVRs. To exit the single DVR
Control mode, press “DVR SEL”, and press “Exit”.

I see that GVIDVR posted the instructions in the download manual for ar-60?? . I have several of these I purchased new from a liquidator. None of the remotes work.
I have tried every way that I can think of to get them to work. I have tried all the combinations listed in the manual. All the ir remotes work or at least put out an ir light as seen by a sony CCTV Camera. I must be doing something wrong. I can see on rs-485 setup that I have the unit set at 224 for unit ID and I have held down the "DVR Set" button and hit ch1 button, no workie. I have just hit the "DVR Set" button and then hit the ch1 button as soon as I released the "DVR Set Button" no workie. I have tried this for all DVR addresses with all corresponding Remote addresses without success. Surely, there can't be that many bad units. I use one of these units at my business and the remote worked out of the box. This was before last official Samsung selling but it quit. I think the setting got changed. This was after the site went down. There has to be something wrong with the instructions because I have tried everything I can think of. I do not need the motion sensing and it is useless anyway. I hope you have the answer for this problem and that helps the many others that purchased unsold stock on this unit. This seems to be a well built system that just does need better software and better instructions. The instructions could say "Hold the "DVR Set" button and hit the number needed. Much of the instructions leave room for error. Please Help, Thanks - Ronny Clark

Ron

I'm checking on the setup of the remote today. Right now I have the same issue you stated as well. I checked the battery and it was okay. So I'm going to start up my AR-6040 now, which is a spare DVR. I just never have used the remote before, but I have some ideas I'm going to try and see if I can get it to work. Check in later and I'll let you know if I have success.

Still no success with the remote, going to open it up and look at the motherboard tomorrow to check on a jump inside. I did check to confirm that it does have a IR port on the daughter-board.

Ron said Hi,
The device ID can be set from 1 to 255. I don't know what made them choose 224-239 to correspond with 1 - 16 on the remotes. I have not given up. These units seem to well
made units for the cost. I will try some other numbers. I have set one up in my home and it is hooked to the flat panel TV in our bedroom so I will have to be able to use the remote or set up another unit. I am still trying numbers. I feel sure that there are others with this same problem because I had one of them set up and the remote worked on it until the Grandkids come over and decided to play with it and it quit working. I guess they were pressing the remote keys and reset the remote to an incorrect number. Thanks for your help.

I have looked at the daughter board too. It has a receiving Diode. I have tried everything I know to try. I have all three systems set up. Two are New and all remote controllers will not work on any of the units. If you purchase one and the remote works, don't try to set the remote for two units or it will quit working. Ronny Clark - see above posts. Thanks
