Hard Drive and Swap Bay

You can replace the DVD-RW with a hot swap bar and use the DVD-RW via USB port for it's function.  This increases your available recording time, before having to overwrite. It will see the Hard drive and ask if you wish to format it for use.  This only increases the recording time before rewriting over earlier video recordings on hard drives.  So if you have two 250 gig hard drives, the unit will record video on both as a 500 gig.  But please note one has the DVR operating system files on it.  So if you wish to use the hot swap for only exportng video recordings be sure to use the correct SATA connection.

Note: Power lost can cause Hard drive failure errors,  repair the Hard drive via reformatting using Windows system has been of some success.  Via format FAT and re-installing into the DVR for re-formatting again by DVR.

Video showing this coming on the GVIDVR youtube channel.

I have tested it and it  has worked on some drives, but many were used drives. Due to failure a anytime, as some of them ended up failing for good later.
